List of the Best Hawaii Wedding Venues

By: Jill Andrus

When you're planning a large event, like a wedding, you want to be sure that everything will go smoothly because you don't want any disasters to be magnified by the number of guests attending. To ensure you're able to treat all of your guests graciously, and without incident, make sure you consider all the points of attending a party and you can't go wrong.

I try to think of myself attending another social event so I can image what it feels like from their perspective. I'm usually running late, and want to park as close to the event as possible since I'm carrying gifts and may have a few children in tow. I usually have a pretty good clue where I'm going but sometimes addresses are a little funny or the directions aren't as clear as they could be so have clear signs along the way is helpful. I'm also very interested in feeling welcomed by a nice large building that says "this is where I'm supposed to be." Nothing is worse than showing up and wondering if you're at the right place.

Getting your guest together to mingle is important because you won't be entertaining them the whole time, there's too many of them. So if you create a way (and a place) for them to meet each other then they will eventually fall into their comfort zone and start talking, drinking, and partying as you would hope.

What kind of party are you having? Once you know this you can better choose a building because you'll know if you having a line or not, and whether there will be a huge dance floor or just a place for some live music in the background. These differences will help you decide on the right venue because you'll better understand your needs for the building.

Entertaining children is not always easy, and it depends on their age. But at most weddings you'll find children and they need room to play and dance like the rest of your guests. But if you find a building that lets them roam into places they shouldn't be or isn't very safe (like a building surrounded with water) then you might want to find a way to secure the unsafe areas. Your guests are there for you and they don't want to feel rushed because they're children aren't safe.

Getting food into the building for your guests can happen by having the facility provide the food or by hiring a caterer to deliver, setup and maybe serve as well. Just be sure that you know what you're getting into with your budget her because food can be expensive and sometimes it's cheaper to use the facility's caterer and other times it's not. It's certainly more convenient because it's one less vendor to keep track of, but it's also a matter of cost and menu.

Finding space for everyone is the key to finding the right building. Your entertainers, whether they be djs or live musicians, will need somewhere to setup and play and you'll want to be sure they have the room necessary to make this a hit at your party.

Some facilities are just made for your wedding because they match everything else you have planned. Others are perfect because they match your budget or the location is most convenient. No matter the reason you pick it, just be sure you find a way to make it your own.
